An invitation to dance
The City of Philadelphia announced "How Philly Moves" this week: a plan to create a nearly 50,000 square foot mural on the sides of the parking structures at the airport, celebrating the diverse facets of dance in Philadelphia.
The invitation to participate in this project is open to anyone and everyone who considers themselves a Philly dancer. There will be many opportunities to get involved with this large-scale project, but dancers need to be signed up by February 19th to be considered for the photo sessions in early March to generate more imagery for the installation.

Information about the project can be found at www.HowPhillyMoves.org
The press release is available in English or in Spanish.
The site also has answers to Frequently Asked Questions.
The application is only on the web and in English only, due to limited resources- but anyone who dances would be welcome to be photographed; if you know someone who loves to dance but for whom language or web access are a barrier, consider acting as their liaison to this project.
Please help distribute this invitation far and wide, so that we can include as many varied forms of dance in this project.
A note from the artists perspective:
Art and Activism are two sides of the same thing. They are about people actively engaged in creating the world that they want to live in, willing it into existence. They are about creating culture rather than passively consuming that which is served to them. This is why I am interested in photographing both dancers' movements and social movements. Just like MMP helps tell untold stories, I hope that this project will be able to bring attention to unseen dances.
